New Ohio Lawsuit Over Recent Curtailment of Early Voting on Weekend Before Election

On August 24, a federal lawsuit was filed in Ohio over a recent directive of the Secretary of State that eliminated the weekend before the November election as a time when voters may vote. The case is Fair Elections Ohio v Husted, 12-cv-763, southern district. See this story.

A lawsuit filed a few weeks ago challenged Ohio practices that permitted some counties to have more early voting days and hours than other counties. The Secretary of State responded to that lawsuit by imposing uniform days and hours for early voting for all counties. But, when he did that, he eliminated the weekend before the election. 1. Republican-style democracy at it’s best.

After their success in suppressing the vote in Ohio in 2004, they’re not about to let 2008 happen again.

The blatant, nationwide Republican efforts to suppress the votes of their opposition is nothing short of a nonviolent coup. And it’s being conducted in broad daylight.

    Republicans? Patriotic? Bullshit.

Still think they’re doing this, Mr. Winger, with the expectation that they’ll disenfranchise no more Democratic votes than Republican votes?

“Why do you THINK they called it Google”?

  3. Mike Turzai, PA House Majority Leader –

“Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

Obviously Mr. Turzai doesn’t read Mr. Winger’s blog.
