Prohibition Party Places Presidential Nominee on Louisiana Ballot

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s web page shows that the Prohibition Party has placed its presidential nominee, Jack Fellure, on the ballot. The party label will be printed on the ballot. Louisiana is apparently the only state in which he will be listed.

The web page also shows that the Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, and Party for Socialism and Liberation have also placed their presidential nominees on the ballot. The deadline is Friday, September 7.

The Prohibition Party has had its presidential ticket on the ballot of at least one state in every presidential election since 1872. No other 3rd party in the United States can match this continuity.

It is amazing how they couldn’t get more than one.

  3. @1 That is just what I was going to say.

#1, there were no government-printed ballots to “be on”, in presidential elections, until 1892.

  5. I just checked the La. SOS’s website and the Socialist Workers Party is still there on the bottom of the list.

  6. There shouldn’t be any more government printed ballots. This led to the beginning of ballot access. Up until the day the “Australian Ballot” was created, it was up to each party to hand out ballots to the voters.

JD, you are correct. Jack Fellure is a good man. At least this historic party still exists

#5, thank you very much. I just corrected the post.

  10. off subject queston, can you sign petitions via power of attorney?

  11. I’m surprised Roseanne couldn’t get together a few people as her electorates. Same with Rocky Anderson. Actually thought those 2 would be on for sure.

Glad to see the state finally updated their list. For months it listed James Harris as the only candidate that qualified.

#11 – both are trying, from what I understand.

  16. Ah thanks Richard and Curt. I thought for some reason the deadline passed on tuesday. Should have checked your petitioning chart’s Richard.

  17. @ #12:
I think that these updates are being made as the campaigns submit their paperwork to the La. SOS.

There’s usually a flurry of filings in the last few days before the deadline. James Harris filed on August 8 and the next filing didn’t happen until Sept. 4.

#1 YOU ARE CORRECT AND SO ARE YOU#8,

  19. The streak continues! While I think the Prohibition Party went with the wrong candidate in deciding their nominee–and Mr. Hedges has been very graceful in defeat, noting that evangelicals in the party simply preferred one of their own–I am heartened to see them make at least one ballot. All of us with an interest in third party politics should honor the oldest existing one. Glad to see the camel is lining up with the elephant and donkey for one more race.

This is great news. I disagree with the Prohibition Party on just about everything, but I’m glad this historic party is still alive. America NEEDS more choices, even ones I disagree with. Say what you want about Jack Fellure, I’d vote for him over B.O. & Mittens any day!
