Three Sponsors for the Commission on Presidential Debates Have Withdrawn

See this interesting post at Independent Political Report, which says that three of the ten sponsors for the Commission on Presidential Debates have withdrawn, due to protests that the Commission stifles free discourse by its restrictive invitation rules.

  1. Yes. The voices of the people SHALL NOT BE STIFLED!!!!! PROTEST THE CPD!

Letters to the editor of newspapers in the cities where these sponsors are headquartered would probably be most effective. Dallas (Southwest Airlines), St. Louis (Anheuser-Busch), Omaha (Howard G. Buffet Foundation), Washington, DC (Sheldon S. Cohen, etc.), Alexandria, VA (International Bottled Water Association), Boston (Kovler Fund), and DC, NYC and LA (Crowell & Moring).

  3. Excellent news!!

  4. This is the best news yet about the debates. The two-party duopoly uses the debates in the same way that a drunk uses a lamp post–for support rather than illumination. It is nice to see that some still believe in the value of a marketplace of ideas. Now if we could just get these sponsors to sponsor a debate with all the candidates who are on sufficient state ballots to have a theoretical chance of winning the presidency we could have a real debate.

  5. All of the CPD stuff is one more sideshow distraction from the EVIL ANTI-Democracy timebomb Electoral College

    — as if the 1860 E.C. election was NOT EVIL deadly enough.

Abolish the E.C. or get ready for Civil WAR II.

Uniform definition of Elector in ALL of the U.S.A.
    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  6. I hope Barbara Dale Washer’s supporters will also demand she be included in the debates!

    I LIKE that number!

Tired of chasing your own tail year after year? Try pure proportional representation (PR)!

The 9th USA Parliament has been using PR for 17 consecutive years and it works great!

Under this system, when a candidate garners 1/1001ths (or .999%) plus one vote of the total votes cast, they are elected as one of 1000 members of parliament (MP).

    It’s a guaranteed satisfaction level of 99.9% plus 1000 votes, because 1000 X .999 (plus one vote) = 999 plus 1000 votes. 999=99.9%.

    999 = 99.9% of 1000

  9. #7 How many public LAWS has the USA Parliament enacted ???

How about exact P.R. — each legislator has a voting power equal to the exact final votes he/she receives (directly and from losing candidates) ???
In the reality meantime the Nov 2012 gerrymander elections will happen and the resulting gerrymander MONSTERS will be super lunatic due to the pending econ collapse of the U.S.A.

    — due to accumulated deficits — now about 20 (repeat 20) TRILLION — all govts in the U.S.A. — NOT counting the trillions more in UN-funded coming govt liabilities.

What century before a major party Prez candidate takes note the EVIL minority rule gerrymander systems in the U.S.A. — i.e. makes it issue ONE ???

Both Obama and Romney are 2 more EVIL robot party hacks trying to manipulate the gerrymander math.
